Drive Efficiency in Our Legal Department, Join us as our Legal Operations Manager!

About the Team

Our Legal Department provides guidance and support on a broad range of issues, including federal and state consumer protection laws, litigation, employment law, and transactional matters. As our Legal Operations Manager, you will work closely with the General Counsel and business partners at all levels of the company. You will be key in creating processes and practices to improve the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team, facilitate change, and control costs.

Your Role
In this dynamic role, you will:
  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Define and drive strategic and operational initiatives with on-time and on-budget results.
  • Develop Metrics: Develop and report on key operational and substantive metrics for the legal team that better inform decision-making, including matters and work product analyses.
  • Implement Tools: Identify and implement legal department tools to streamline new or existing practices, managing design, rollout, and training for new systems.
  • Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing legal operations team, including hiring, training, and mentoring direct reports to ensure the team's success and professional growth. 
  • Manage Outside Counsel: Develop and enforce processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and spend.
  • Optimization: Assist with budget matters and optimize workflows within the legal department.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams including Originations, Servicing, Compliance, Vendor Management, Fraud, IT, Information Security, and Finance, as well as various business units.
What You Bring
  • Prior experience developing playbooks and policies.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to independently move projects forward by working with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of collaborating with groups (e.g., business, finance, IT) to set objectives and produce meaningful results.
  • Technology Solutions: Strong experience in developing, implementing, and using legal department technology solutions.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Function as a generalist; managing and supporting projects across a full range of subject matter supported by the legal team. Able to successfully manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities within a fast-paced, unpredictable, and rapidly evolving environment.
Qualifications
  • BA or BS required.
  • 5+ years of experience with legal project operations and management in-house or at a law firm (both preferred).
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including developing and managing a team.

 Position Details
  • Full-time position: 100% onsite in Spartanburg, SC
  • Must be able to commute to the office five days a week.
  • Relocation: Open to candidates willing to relocate. Position requires relocation to Spartanburg, SC by the start date.
